Welcome To Bonzai's Sugar Glider Page! :)
This is just a few pages dedicated to my sugar gliders, their care and housing and, of course, their entertainment! lol. If you learn something new, then great, if not, just enjoy the pictures of the crew at their best!
Things to find on this site
In this site, I hope to cover just some of the most important, basic needs of the Sugar Glider such as housing, feeding, bonding and such. Not that I think I know everything there is to know about "gliders", but I want to try to cover most of what I have been taught by fellow glider owners, and most important, what my own gliders have taught me! (It has taken Bonzai awhile to get me trained the way he wants me, but I think we have it down now..lol.)
Most Important: DIET!
The most important thing you want for anyone you love is their health and wellbeing, right? Well, the common myth is that a sugar glider is a "low-maintenece" pet. Than can be nothing farther from the truth, and your first inkling of this will be when you try to get your "baby" to eat what is good for it, versus what it wants to eat! Kind of like feeding a two year old human child, gliders are notoriously picky when it comes to food. The sweeter, the better, the worse for them, the more they like it!
A very good diet to use is BML (Bourbon's Modified Ledbeaters, picture of ingredients on next page) This diet, along with fresh fruits and vegetables and protein source,is one of the best and most touted diets available for gliders. The thing I love aboutthe BML diet is that is constantly being researched and checked for the absolute best content for your glider.
Pictures and links to this diet can be found on the "Links" page on this site. I strongly suggest that new glider owners use it, study it and above all FEED IT! :)
